Sustainability
Truck transportation is the dominant mode of cargo movement in the most developed countries. Therefore, the major determinant of the overall environmental impact of logistics is the efficiency of the road freight sector. Did you know that approximately 25 per cent of truck kilometres in EU countries is run empty? If all trucks were fully loaded on all trips and routing fully optimised, the environmental burden could be greatly reduced.
VEHICLE UTILIZATION
Rising filling grade of trucks used in our flows is one of the most attractive sustainable measures Greenbow makes. It yields substantial environmental as well as economic benefits. Measurements such as tonne-kilometres per vehicle per annum can be extracted from our operative system.
EMPTY RUNNING
Number of empty kilometres is expressed as the proportion of vehicle-kms run empty. According to Eurostat, vehicles drive empty in average 27 per cent within EU. Thats why we at Greenbow have a special approach in our business development, which also is visible in our client portfolio.
TRUCK FLEET AND FUEL EFFICIENCY
All trucks used in our operations are minimum EUR 5. We put also efforts in tracking the data of vehicle maintenance of our suppliers as well as we promote alternative fuels.
FORECASTING
We practice Collaborative Transportation Management (CTM) at Greenbow, which also means involvement of managers responsible for the transports operations at an early stage in the logistics process. By extending the planning horizon, Greenbow is able to increase the utilisation of our international truck fleet.
HEALTH AND SAFETY REGULATIONS
For us at Greenbow health and safety comes on the first place. Thats why cabotage and working time restrictions are promoted as legal restrictions.
EMISSIONS AUDITING
Greenbow has introduced the process of calculating the amount of greenhouse gas or other pollutants released into the atmosphere by our transport activities. All improvements start with taking initial measurements.
